Start Up Obsession

I have been reading a lot of articles and news about start ups lately. I believe that these businesses will curate the world's economy in the future! Plus, it's fun to see young people (like me!) venture into such ideas, well, that might worth millions or billions! They acknowledge the risks that lay in front, but did not hesitate to take actions.

You might think that, some of their ideas are just ridiculous for them to put their effort into, but nope, as an example, Instagram which most of us have been crazed about. Vintage photo filters? A very simple idea indeed. Maybe there were people who had thought of this idea before, they thought it was too simple, too ridiculous for people to care about, yup, until Facebook bought Instagram for $1 Billion. Gosh, I'm in awe.

Okay so there are tons of other start up acquisitions out there other than Instagram. Just too many for me to list out. Others, meanwhile, buy, or get bought by other companies. Here, I'm going to list out my favourites among them, which I think, they are going to make a change!

Being acquired by Facebook recently with a jaw dropping price tag of $1 Billion, takes Instagram and the team to feed on the social media aspects of the company. Now, the tools and features (mainly vintage photo filters) have been integrated to Facebook, expanding their user base much bigger.

I have been using their service ever since they started out. I would say, it is convenient for everyone! You can store notes, photos, links, whatever, to their cloud and access them anywhere, anytime, provided that you have a smartphone or a tablet, laptop, pc with you! For the free pack, you'll have to access the database online, premium users, they get their data offline and expanded upload capacity. Recently, they have just collaborated with Moleskine, the infamous-premium notebook brand to serve this one brilliant idea, imprint your physical notes digitally, just by taking photos. It's the future! Ooh!

I love this one! It's like a coding school where, the only thing that differs them from the others is, it's a free service! Wohoo! Their style of teaching is awesome as well. I don't really know how to explain this but it's fun! I assure you that you'll get addicted to it. The upside? You will be on your way to your first website, app, software. Just the exact thing that you need if you're planning to develop one. Plus, they're hiring!

This one goes to the ladies, and soft-men (I kid!). If you have hand-crafted products or inventions to sell, this  will be the exact medium for you to refer to. Check out their collection of contents from all across the world, from a very wide user base, all across the globe. I would surf their mounted collections searching for things that I can match as my own personal room decoration sometimes, quirky stuffs I suppose, well, they have tons of those!

This is one simplistic idea! I've thought about it before and there you go, someone snapped it! Oh well. So Goodsie allows members (yup, you gotta pay to play!) to create e-commerce websites to sell or showcase anything that the specific user want, of course, without any knowledge on coding. Nothing. Boom. Just type and insert your photos in and you're good to go with your own domain name as well! How good is that? But being lazy cost you though! Not much, but under a subscription fee, every month. It's good. I like it. But I prefer coding. Being technical is the way.

Okay so that's as far as it goes! I have tons more to brief and show to you all. like Birchbox, Sharpmen, Asos, Gowalla, Storify, Path, TaskRabbit, GrooveShark, Kiip, Klout, just endless for me to list them all out! It's amazing to see this booming start up trend going. Everyone has their own unique idea.

7 Months!

It has been a crazy ride for me! Had been ignoring this blog for about 7 months! What a long time. So many things happened, pleasant, unpleasant, well, that's life! And I did went back to my home country, for 3 weeks that is! Contributed my time to AFookies mostly. Did the best I could! Well me and Anis are planning for something really big for the brand, for the company. In a few years time, Insyaallah!

The raya celebration here is good. Though I am missing a lot of what could have happened and occurred if I'm in Malaysia now. We still have sate, soto, lemang, nasi impit, etc. Seniors conducted this huge event called Mega Raya 2012 at the Malaysian Hall where, well, even the others came to celebrate with us, which was nice! I eventually volunteered to chuck in my energy in hopes to make the event a successful occasion!

Have lots of plans for the shortcomings! More volunteering jobs, joining clubs, basketball, tennis, or probably I should just pick one...I don't know. Applying for a new job, since I've quite Papparich, yup, worked there before. Really need to find a new job with a better pay. I have this brilliant idea that I would like to venture in. A social-entrepreneur thing. Still remember that talk Mr. Roslan gave me. An idea that gives value to the people. But I need to get my tools ready, hence, new job>money>tools, then I can start working on it!

Missing family very much. First time celebrated raya without them, it's tough, but I know that this would be something that I will have to endure later, and I did, terribly, if you know what I mean, HAHA.

This was in Malaysia, eating Nasi Kerabu!

 Malaysia too, nice warm weather

Yup, Chatime in Melbourne, but Malaysia's better!

 First Raya, at St. Kilda!

Was just waiting for tram

That's pretty much what I did the past week! My first class starts tomorrow at 8.30am! I feel nervous! Not because I'm a new student or something, I am because I'm scared that I won't be able to communicate with them well because of their accent! Gotta get used to this mate! See ya!
